I went into town to get an o -ring. Just an o-ring.
Our new to us MF 65 tractor arrived with a hydraulic diverter valve that sent oil splurting out over the gearbox if you bumped the lever but, worst of all, the 3 point linkage out the back wouldn’t move . Removing the valve off the tractor and bopping out the diverter piston showed that the o-ring had failed.
The o-ring shop also sold chainsaws.
So we now have a new chainsaw, a fixed valve and the 3 point linkage works! Wins all round and it's only just gone 10 am in the morning!

Love Stihl. Great saws. I’ve got one just a bit bigger and it’s been very reliable.

Chainsaws contain O-rings.
Problem solved. You got an O-ring.

When I was a kid we always had a Stihl chainsaw to use for getting firewood but it looked something like this:
Of course now that I’m a city boy all I have is a small electric chainsaw used to trim limbs.

Well done on both counts.
I’m still running the hand-me-down saw from my father, a ~1970 Jonsereds. Still works perfectly though!
Stihl is the go-to brand around here, everyone has one. Maybe because the trusty local hardware store sells them, but I think it’s the other way around. They asked the local tree guys what they used, then sought that brand to carry in the store.

Yeah we’ve got a bigger Husqvarna which is ideal for the bigger stuff but the weight and the torque steer make it exhausting... especially when doing the smaller stuff. So this little pup with a 14" bar will be ideal. And for AU$249 ( on runout due to new emission laws)...a bit of a bargain.

I’ve killed three in my chainsaw career. Two were worn out and one was murdered (I trusted someone had put oil with the fuel in a tank marked ‘2 stroke fuel ONLY’). They've been generally pretty good.

No sense in having something big if you’re not going to use it.
